Duke Forest Warming Experiment Vegetation Survey Dataset

The data we are providing are the result of a vegetation survey carried out in the Duke Forest open-top warming chambers in June 2015. The survey was carried out following the Carolina Vegetation Survey (CVS) protocol. (For those unfamiliar with CVS, you can find the complete protocol here).

Duke Forest Vegetation Survey Metadata

Chamber: Chambers are numbered 1-15. Nine of these chambers are heated. Three are non-heated controls.

Species Code: Standard USDA plant codes

Tree Stratus %: Percent cover (0-100%) for the given species represented by trees equal or greater than 4m in height.

Shrub Stratum%: Percent cover (0-100%) for the given species represented by shrubs measuring 1-4m in height.

Herb Stratum %: Percent cover (0-100%) for the given species represented by plants shorter than 1m.

CVS Presence Code: Whether or not the plant is rooted in the plot (1 or 0 respectively)

CVS Cover Code: Total cover of a species in the chamber per CVS protocol (1-10, where 1=10% and 10=100%)
