My research focuses on investigating Bacillus species that have been isolated from worn athletic garments to understand how these microorganisms are able to persist on polyester fabrics. Using transcriptomics and analytical techniques, I hope to uncover the mechanism of action for Bacillus growth on polyester, as well as polyester fabric compounds such as wicking agents and dyes, in order to use this information to improve both sustainability in the textile industry and textile quality.
